Ultraviolet injury prevention

[ summary ]

UV induced ocular trauma ( ultraviolet injuries of the eye ) for electrical injury. Its source in natural light, such as mountains and snow area and the artificial light to see more of welding arc, mercury vapor arc and tungsten arc light. Biological effects of ultraviolet, is a biochemical reaction, the earliest to protein denaturation, followed by protein condensation.

[ ] the treatment measures

Treatment methods: mainly for disease treatment.

1.0.5% ~ 1% card by liquid instillation, or other surface anesthetic eye drops or subconjunctival injection.

2 the above method, coated with antibiotic ointment, bandaged eyes, sedative and hypnotic. General sleep a few hours after the symptoms disappeared or reduced, then a tainted glasses.

In 3 patients with severe symptoms appeared after hours, again according to the law processing time. A few patients have iris inflammation, can drop tropicamide, necessary drops of atropine.

The etiology of [ ]

Electric ophthalmia ( photophthalmia ) also known as UV linear ophthalmia, accounted for 2% of ocular trauma. More common in metal welders or mercury lamp filmmakers, as well as the ultraviolet lamp, atomic bomb explosion. Can be due to direct or indirect irradiation induced by irradiation. When the days of exposure to accumulate more than 15 minutes, 6 to 10 hours after the onset of symptoms. Each work in the day and night onset wounded. After 24 hours of no accumulation effect.

[ ] the clinical manifestations

Early binocular stimulation and foreign body sensation, gradually increase the policy, eyelid spasm, pain, photophobia tears, red or yellow, with dark side of visual symptoms occur.

Symptoms: severe facial and eyelid skin flushing, conjunctival hyperaemia, corneal fluorescein staining, diffuse punctate corneal sensation, poor color, pupil of spastic narrowing. In general 2 to 3 days after symptoms disappear.

[ ] prevention

Strengthen labor protection publicity and education, in the ultraviolet places workers, should wear protective glasses, goggles, may be worn with slit light gray glasses or GR-39 optical resin lens.
